The EU AI Act is the European Union's law on how artificial intelligence (AI) is built and used. Article 4 is its AI literacy duty. AI literacy means the skills, knowledge and understanding people need to use AI with judgement: what a tool can do, where it goes wrong and what they must check. If your organisation uses AI and has EU customers, staff or operations, Article 4 likely applies to you, and national regulators enforce it from August 2026.
What has changed
